I am interested in the rold of gene flow and local adaptation in deptermining species distributions. My dissertation research uses a brown alga (Silvitia compressa) and its distribution across the intertidal gradient as a model system to address these ideas. This work includes fine-scale genetic mapping, reciprocal transpland and common gardent experiments, and lab “stress test” and outplant experiments with embryos known as parentage that I generate through controlled crosses in the lab.
