I am inspired by recent petitions to list Pinto Abalone (Haliotis kamtschatkana) that were determined unwarranted due to lack of data, especially in the northernmost range of the species (Southeastern Alaska). My goal is to rectify this data deficiency, to determine the joint effect of human harvest and sea otter predation on pinto abalone, and in so doing, provide essential tools to help manage the species.

I also assist with MARINe (Multi-Agency Rocky Intertidal Network) longterm monitoring sites in areas originally surveyed by Jack Calvin and Ed Ricketts in 1932 Sitka Sound Alaska.
