I have been inspired by petitions to list pinto abalone (Haliotis kamtschatkana) as Endangered under the Endangered Species Act. These petitions were determined unwarranted due to lack of data, especially in the northernmost range of the species (Southeastern Alaska). My goal is to rectify data deficiencies, determine pinto abalone population population dynamics and the joint effect of human harvest and sea otter predation on pinto abalone. Through collaborations with management agencies, I plan to provide essential tools to help manage this species.

I also assist with MARINe (Multi-Agency Rocky Intertidal Network) longterm monitoring sites in areas originally surveyed by Jack Calvin and Ed Ricketts in 1932 Sitka Sound Alaska.
